Seahawks join NFL

The American Thoroughbread race horse ,owned by a couple from White Swan, WA, won the United States Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing in 1977. Named for the the sloughs which loggers once used to transport heavy logs through Seattle, the horse would continue to be one of the most famous race horses to come from Seattle.

Warren Moon wins Rose Bowl Player of the Game Award

Year: 1978

As the UW Huskies quarterback, Moon lead his team to a 27 to 20 victory over Michigan. Moon is given the Rose Bowl Player of the Game award for his sportmanship and his athleticism throughout the game.

Seattle Supersonics Reach the NBA finals for the first time.

Year: 1978

They had a mediocre season, but gained momentum late in the season to beat Los Angeles, Portland, and Denver in the playoffs. Seattle didn’t go down easy, losing to the Washington Bullets 99-105 in game seven.
